Great slide show! I did notice, however, that every picture I tool is blurry. Perhaps I need some camera lessons? This is really funny. Happy Christmas to you and your family. K
Yes, there were 19 in attendance. Our final day is October 3. They are submitting a creative reflection (and personal writing, if they so choose) online. Everyone seemed to have a really good time. I'm glad I was part of this event. Several mentione…
My list is accurate, and everyone who has presented has been fabulous, and Liz is presenting all day tomorrow. The institute is going so well! Thanks to everyone for their help. One day to go until the fall!
I left a note about today's OI in another place, but it should have been here. Oops! Smyth County's OI started today, and went swimmingly. Susan Hampton and Cyndi Newlon were fabulous presenters, and everyone had extremely positive things to say. To…
Smyth County's OI started well today. Susan and Cyndi did an awesome job with their presentations, and everyone had positive things to say about Day 1. The band director looked up at Susan (Hampton) at one point and said, "Hey! I could use that!" (r…
Super. I'm so thankful for everyone's help. On an odd note: This OI was designed to open the door for AWP in Smyth County, but over half of the participants are from other counties! Hmmm....
Becky,
Thanks for all your help, and, yes, I'll be at the Breaks for the retreat. I'd love to chat with you there. Hope all is well with your family. Keela
Syllabus is up on the screen as we "speak." I sent an e-mail to Jennifer with a question, but I'll send what I have to you. All I want as far as a book, is the Let's Write. I sent a request to Jennifer this morning. I sent you an e-mail, too, so I w…
I'd love to go! I'll room with anybody; it doesn't matter. I'll talk to my principal about $ for food, but I'll go regardless. Anybody still need a roommate?
Keela, to answer your question about supplies: let me know what you're planning to buy before you buy it. I didn't do this with Becky and Tammy and my accounting department flagged some of the purchases. Basically, we can't give them things we would ordinarily give TC's because these teachers will not be working for us. Use that money for supplies that YOU need for instruction, (not for giveaways like notebooks and flash drives.) I will tell Becky and Tammy the same thing for next year. Accounting may not reimburse for those. You can also order things through Jennifer, though at this date you won't get them in time for your OI. Let me know if you have other questions!
I don't know if I told you this but Jenna Johnson (our former work study who is now looking for a teaching job) lives near you and would love to help out with your OI if you need her. She knows everything about the AWP, she's super-dependable, and she's an English major looking for a teaching job. Let me know if you're interested!
Hi, Keela! I think I may be on vacation during your week because that's the only time Bryan is off so don't count on me as a presenter (it's better that a TC do that, anyway!) Order your supplies through your school and then have them send an invoice to Jennifer. Don't feel as though you have to supply everything. They will have paper and pens. Try to stay within $300; it's looking like we went way over budget with OI supplies. We budgeted for $900 for all three ($300 each). Good luck and let me know if you need anything else! Grace can help you line up presenters.
Hey, Keela! Narrowing sounds good, especially for planning. Have you asked Becky for a copy of her syllabus from last year? She keeps GREAT records and she can be of some good help to you since she's done this once already. I'll be happy help you but I think Becky might be a better resource. I wish you, she, and Tammy could some how powwow together. I wonder how we can make that happen before your OIs? Becky is in Grundy and right now it would be best to go to her given her circumstances. Is that a central location for you and Tammy to meet? I could meet the three of you there. I will ask them, as well.
